ADR-002: Sole-owner account deletion
Status: accepted 6 September 2026 (D7); enforced 7 September 2026.
Context
Section titled “Context”Deleting a user cascades to every workspace whose owner_id they hold, and therefore to all of its catalogue, inventory and order records. A workspace whose only owner membership disappears would be orphaned. Ownership transfer does not exist yet.
Decision
Section titled “Decision”Account deletion is refused while the user holds owner_id of any workspace or is the only member with the owner role in any workspace. The refusal names the workspaces and leaves the account, memberships and business records unchanged. The profile page explains the block and disables the button.
Consequences
Section titled “Consequences”- A shop cannot vanish through a personal settings form.
- Ownership transfer becomes a prerequisite for offboarding an owner; it belongs to team management.
- Co-owners and non-owner members can still delete their accounts.
