ADR-009: No stem recovery in the first release

Status: accepted 13 September 2026 (owner decision, BRV-02).

Once assembly starts, stems are cut and arranged. Some can be recovered if the order is cancelled, most cannot. Modelling recovery well needs assessed quantity, condition, new expiry, cost basis and a reason, bounded by what was consumed.

In the first Stage 2 release, cancelling an order in in_progress or ready leaves consumption as it is. The consumed material cost stays on the cancelled order as its loss. No stock returns automatically, and no generic quantity edit is offered as a workaround. The recovery action is specified in the Stage 2 plan (BRV-08) and stays disabled until scheduled.

  • Cancellation after assembly is a one-step action with a clear warning.
  • Loss figures on cancelled orders are honest and stable.
  • Enabling recovery later is additive: a new manager action with provenance to the source order, no change to existing rules.
